Podiatry in Brooklyn

A podiatrist, also called a DPM or doctor of podiatric medicine, is a specialist in treating conditions that affect your feet and ankles. If you are like the average American, you walk about 5,000 to 6,000 steps each day, seven days a week, 365 days a year for all the years you are walking. Through it all, your feet and ankles must support your full body weight, not to mention backpacks, groceries, toolbelts, shoulder bags and all kinds of accessories. Your feet and ankles can take a beating even if you don’t play competitive sports. It’s important that you see a podiatrist regularly to keep them healthy.

Instead of living with foot pain, corns, calluses, bunions or hammertoes, you can now get effective treatment from our podiatrist. There’s no reason why these conditions should stop you in your tracks or make everyday life more challenging and difficult than it has to be. Our podiatrist can treat you for everything from ingrown toenails to stress fractures.

While most foot and ankle problems can be successfully treated with nonsurgical methods such as splinting and orthoses (orthotics), our podiatrist also performs surgery to correct the most serious foot and ankle problems that have not responded to more conservative treatments. If you have diabetes, you can get diabetic foot ulcers and infections. Our podiatrist manages these infections and helps you prevent foot amputation, which is necessary for the worst cases. Arthritis is another disease that can affect your feet and ankles. Arthritis often attacks the big toe, for example, and makes walking both painful and difficult.

We have helped people of all ages with all kinds of foot and ankle problems in Brooklyn, East Flatbush, Flatbush, Park Slope and Prospect Lefferts Garden. We can help you, too.
