While COVID-19 has ravaged the world, many other health problems have gone unnoticed, leaving many doctors to wonder what the lasting implications will be for those who haven't been able to get the treatment they need. Whether you have been scared to go to the doctor for fear of catching COVID, or you couldn't get treatment because of hospitals and doctor's offices only seeing certain patients, it's still important that you stay on top of your health.
During the pandemic, surgeries deemed "elective" were put on hold in many places throughout the world. Elective surgeries can be something as minor as needing a mole removed, but it can also be major like having a mastectomy to reduce the chances of breast cancer spreading throughout your body. There have been reports of doctors not being able to operate on a patient with cancer due to the coronavirus, and by the time the doctor can see them, the cancer has spread. Just because a surgery is elective, doesn't mean it's not important.
Patients have also been unable to treat things such as a cold during the pandemic because they're scared to go to the doctor. While a cold isn't usually life-threatening, many other illnesses that are have also gone untreated.
LaSante Health Center has worked hard to ensure that our patients feel safe to come visit us during this pandemic and that they always have access to us. When visiting our office, all of our staff and visitors wear masks and follow all safety protocols. We also have tablets that take temperature and ask questions about your health as a further safety measure. We want our patients to feel safe to come visit us despite what is going on in the world. There are still a lot of unknowns as to how the pandemic will affect people's health for years to come, but we are dedicated to helping our patients through it no matter what.
