Whether you've gotten the flu before or not, it's always important to get the flu vaccine and stay healthy this flu season.

December 6th through 12th is National Influenza Vaccination Week. National Influenza Vaccination week is a great time to bring awareness to the flu and remind people to get their yearly flu shot.

On average, the flu effects between five to 20 percent of the U.S. population each year. Peak flu season kicks off in December and goes through February, meaning we're right at the start of flu season. While the flu affects everyone differently, many people will end up hospitalized or even pass away from the virus.

Signs and symptoms of the flu include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults

To avoid catching the flu, it's recommended by doctors everywhere that you get your flu shot. LaSante Health Center is happy to give you and your entire family flu shots to get you through this flu season. To book an appointment to get your shot, visit lasantehealth.com or call (718) 246-5700.
